Week 10: De La Salle (Home)

Preview: For the seventh straight season, the Falcons qualified for the playoffs. On Friday night, they will have a rematch of last year's semifinal against two time defending state champion De La Salle. The game will be played at Groves.

Recap:

Varsity: De La Salle forfeited the game. The Falcons win 2-0. The win moves their record to 8-2.

Week 9: Woodhaven (Away)

Preview: This will be the first meeting between Groves and Woodhaven. Woodhaven plays in the Down River League and is currently 8-0 and winners of their league.

Recap:

Varsity: On Friday night, the Falcons lost to Woodhaven 49-28. The loss drops their record to 7-2 on the season.

Junior Varsity: On Thursday night, the Falcons lost to Woodhaven. They end the season with a 2-6 record on the season.

Freshman: On Thursday afternoon, the Falcons lost to Woodhaven. They end the season with a 1-7-1 record on the season.

Preview: For the second straight year, the Falcons will play the Maples in the playoffs. Seaholm is coming into week 11 with a 7-3 record. They beat Sterling Heights last week by a score of 55-34.

Week 8: Seaholm (Away)

Preview: Seaholm comes into week 8 with a 5-2 record on the season. Seaholm has beaten Ferndale, Stoney Creek, Rochester, Troy, and Troy Athens. Their two losses are to Rochester Adams and Oak Park. This is the 61st meeting between these two schools with Seaholm holding a 40-20 all time record.

Recap:

Varsity: On Friday night the Falcons won their 7th game of the season by beating Seaholm 35-14. Ralph Donaldson, Colby Taylor had rushing TDs. Markis Alexander threw for 250 yards and 3 TDs. Clayton Fox, Eli Turner, and Kyle Coleman all had TD receptions on the night.

Junior Varsity: Did not have a game this week.

Freshman: On Thursday afternoon, the Freshman lost to Seaholm 24-0. The lost drops their record to 1-6-1 on the season.

Week 7: Stoney Creek (Home)

Preview: Stoney Creek comes into week 7 with a 4-2 record. They have wins over Utica Ford, Troy, Troy Athens, and Oxford.

Recap:

Varsity: On Friday night, the Falcons beat Stoney Creek 28-23 to earn their 6th win of the year and qualify for the playoffs for a 7th straight season. Damon Dunbar, Ralph Donaldson, and Kyle Coleman all had rushing TD's for the Falcons. Senior Teray Rayford was the hero of the night as he picked up a fumble later in the 4th quarter and raced 68 yards for the TD and put the Falcons up for the night. Senior Jack Curran and Markell Harris added interceptions for the Falcons.

Junior Varsity: On Thursday night, the JV lost to Stoney Creek 44-33. The loss drops their record to 2-5 on the season.

Freshman: On Thursday afternoon, the freshman lost to Stoney Creek 55-0. The loss drops their record to 1-5-1 on the season.

Week 5: Troy Athens (Homecoming)

Preview: The Falcons have their second of three home games Friday night against Troy Athens. Athens rolls into week 5 with a 2-2 record. They beat Old Redford and Troy to start the season but have dropped their last two games vs Stoney Creek and Southfield. Last year the Falcons beat Athens 42-6. The Falcons started off slow in the first half but exploded for 35 points in the second half to secure the win. Athens holds the all time record over Groves 18-7.

Varsity: On Friday night, the Falcons won their homecoming game by beating Troy Athens 43-10. Damon Dunbar started the scoring by intercepting a pass and returning to it for a TD. (His 3rd INT for a TD this season!). Jaden Mangham caught a 79 yard TD pass, Kaleb Coleman also had a TD reception and a TD run. Markis Alexander threw for 200 yards and 2 TD passes. Colby Taylor rushed for 2 TD's. The Falcons move to 4-1 on the season.

Junior Varsity: On Thursday afternoon, the JV team traveled to Rochester Adams and lost 28-21 in a hard fought game against one of the toughest opponents in the OAA. The JV record is now 1-4.

Freshman: On Thursday afternoon, the Freshman team traveled to Livonia Franklin and lost 19-14. The Freshman record is now 0-4-1

Week 6: Troy (Away)

Preview: Troy comes into week 6 with an 0-5 record. The Falcons hold a 4-3 all time record vs Troy.

Recap:

Varsity: On Friday night, the Varsity team improved their record to 5-1 on the season. Ralph Donaldson had 3 rushing TDs on 7 carries for 108 yards. Caleb Coleman, Kyle Coleman, and Damon Dunbar all added rushing TD's. Clayton Fox had 2 catches for 51 yards and 1 TD. The defense held Troy to negative yards on the night.

JV: On Thursday night the JV beat Troy 49-0. The win improves the JV record to 2-4 on the season.

Freshman: On Thursday afternoon at Berkley, the Freshman team won 26-14. The win moves the Freshman record to 1-4-1.

Week 4: Oak Park (Away) Friday 9/20 @ 6:00

Preview: The Falcons travel to Oak Park for the first time since 1970 when they played each other in the old Northwest Suburban League. Groves holds a 7-6 all time record against the Knights. Oak Park is the defending OAA White champions and have won the last two meetings against the Falcons. The Knights are one of the top teams in Oakland county and the State.

Varsity: On Friday night at Oak Park, the varsity suffered their first loss of the season by losing to OP 26-14. Ralph Donaldson scored on a 37 yard TD run and Colby Taylor caught a 55 yard TD pass from Markis Alexander.

Junior Varsity: On Thursday night at Groves, Oak Park beat the Groves 24-12. The loss drops the JV record to 1-3.

Freshman: On Thursday afternoon at Groves, the Falcons lost to Rochester Adams 52-0. The loss drops the freshman record to 0-3-1.

Week 3: Rochester (Home) Friday 9/13

Preview: Rochester comes into week 3 with an 0-2 record. In week 1 they lost to their cross town rival Rochester Adams 60-24 and in week 2 Oak Park beat them 53-0. Groves has won the last two meeting including a hard fought 35-28 victory last year at Rochester. Rochester is 11-8 all time against Groves. The two teams played in the Metro Suburban League from 1982 to 1993.

Recap:

Varsity: On Friday night at Groves, the Falcons put on a scoring show in the first half in front of their home crowd. They won the game 42-0 and moved their record to 3-0. Eli Turner and Clayton Fox each hauled in TD receptions. Ralph Donaldson scored on 2 TD runs and Colby Taylor added another TD Run. Senior linebacker Damon Dunbar scored on a 22 yard interception for a TD. Moritz Pruess added 6 extra points on the day.

Junior Varsity: The JV game was moved to Saturday morning at Rochester Adams due to a loss of power at Rochester high school. The JV team got their first win on the season by beating Rochester 29-14. The JV improves their record to 1-2.

Freshman: On Thursday afternoon at Rochester, the Falcons tied Rochester 22-22. The Tie moves the freshman record to 0-2-1.

Week 2: West Bloomfield (Away)

Preview: West Bloomfield comes into week 2 as the number 1 ranked team in the state of Michigan. In week 1 they beat Oak Park 21-14. The series between the two schools is tied at 15-15. West Bloomfield beat Groves in the week 1 opener last year 38-28.

Freshman: On Thursday at Groves West Bloomfield beat Groves. The loss drops the freshman record to 0-2

Junior Varsity: On Thursday night at Groves West Bloomfield beat Groves. The loss drops the JV record to 0-2.

Varsity: On Friday night at West Bloomfield the Varsity team beat West Bloomfield 24-17. Markis Alexander found Eli Turner for the game winning touchdown pass with less than a minute to go in the game. Alexander also threw a TD pass to Clayton Fox. Kyle Coleman added a 1 yd rushing TD. Moritz Pruess added two extra points and a field goal. The varsity moves their record to 2-0.

Week 1: Grosse Pointe South @ Wayne State University

Preview: Grosse Pointe South plays in the Macomb Area Conference White Division and has experienced a lot of success in recent years. Last year they went 8-2, won their division and lost a close game to Dearborn Fordson in the first round of the playoffs. This will be the second meeting between Groves and GP South. The first time the two teams met was in the 2016 regional finals at Groves. Groves won the game 44-10. This will be the first time both team will play in the Prep Football Classic at Wayne State University.

Freshman: On Wednesday night at Groves, the Freshman team lost to GP South 41-28.

Junior Varsity: On Wednesday night at Groves, the JV team lost to GP South 28-14.

Varsity: On Friday afternoon at Wayne State University, the Falcons beat GP South 35-21. The Falcons jumped out to an early lead with 2 defensive touchdowns. Damon Dunbar intercepted a pass and returned it 22 yards for a TD. On the next possession, Ralph Donaldson picked up a fumble and returned it for a TD. Donaldson would add 2 other TD's in the game. Senior Kaleb Coleman added a TD reception.
