Week 6: Stoney Creek (Away)

Preview: Stoney Creek comes into week 6 with a 5-0 record and winners of the OAA White Division. They have all of their offense back and most of their defense back from a 5-5 playoff team in 2019. Groves and Stoney Creek have played 5 times with Groves holding a 3-2 record. Including a 28-23 win in 2019 when Linebacker Teray Rayford picked up a fumble and ran 75 yards for the game winning score.

Week 5: Oak Park (Away @ 6:00)

Preview: Oak Park comes into week four looking for their first victory of the season. They are 0-4 and playing in the tough OAA Red division. Oak Park is led by Senior offensive lineman Rayshaun Benny and Senior runningback Davion Primm. Oak Park has won the last three meetings against Groves. The all time series is tied 7-7. The game will be played at 6:00 at Oak Park.

Week 4: Seaholm (Home)

Preview: This will be the 5th time in three years that Groves and Seaholm have met. Groves has won 3 of the 4 games played. Seaholm beat Groves last year in the district final 42-7. Seaholm leads the all time series 41-21.

Results: On Friday night, Seaholm beat Groves 35-28. Kaleb Garner was 16 of 21 for 253 yards passing and 3 TD passes. Jackson Tinsley had 4 catches for 90 yards and 2 TDs. Joe Hess led the way on defense with 24 tackles. The loss drops the Falcons record to 2-2.

JV: The JV did not play this week.

Week 3: North Farmington (Home)

Preview: North Farmington rolls into week 3 with a 1-1 record. They beat Rochester Adams in OT in week 1 and then lost in week 2 vs Stoney Creek. North Farmington moves up from the Blue Division and is led by second year Head Coach Jon Herstein. The last time Groves played North Farmington was in 2016 when Groves won 45-0. North Farmington leads the all time series 8-7.

Results:

Varsity: On Friday night, the Varsity pulled out their second win of the year by beating North Farmington 36-26. Jack Woods led the way passing for 204 yards and 2 Touchdowns. He also added a 55 yard TD run. Jaden Mangham and Zak Meradi both caught TD passes. The win moves Groves record to 2-1 on the season.

JV: On Thursday night the JV lost 21-20. The moves drops their record to 1-2 on the season.

Week 2: Rochester Adams (Home)

Preview: Rochester Adams comes into week 5 with a 0-1 record. They dropped their first game of the season 34-33 in overtime to North Farmington. Adams is returning to the OAA White after 3 years in the OAA Red Division. They are lead by longtime coach Tony Patritto. Groves and Adams have 31 times (3rd most in the history of Groves). Adams has the lead in the series 20-11. The last game played was in 2016 when Groves won 18-8.

Recap:

Varsity: On Friday night, the Falcons lost to Rochester Adams 31-21. The loss drops the record to 1-1 and the season. Stavros Panos rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown and also caught 2 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. Joe Hess and Tyler Dawson led the way defensively with 14 and 13 tackles.

Junior Varsity: On Thursday night at Adams, the JV captured their first victory of the season by beating Adams 14-6. They move their record to 1-1 on the season.

Week 1: Farmington (Away)

Preview: Finally opening up the 2020 season, the Falcons will start at week 4 and play on the road against Farmington. Farmington has had 2 very successful years in the OAA Blue division and now they move up to the OAA White. Groves and Farmington have played 5 times with Groves holding a 3-2 all time record. The last time these two teams met, was in 2016 when Groves won 46-0 at Farmington.

Recap:

Varsity: On Thursday night, the Falcons picked up their first victory of the season by beating Farmington 42-21. Senior RB Johnny Rex led the way with 210 yards rushing and 2 TDs. Senior QB Jack Woods threw 2 TD pass, one to Junior Stavi Panos and one to Junior Jaden Mangham. Woods also rushed for 2 TDs. On defense the Falcons were led by Senior Kyle Coleman with 12 Tackles and Senior Tyler Dawson with 11 Tackles. Jackson Tinsley finished the game by intercepting the Farmington QB.

Record: 1-0 (1-0 in OAA White)

Junior Varsity: On Wednesday night, the Falcons JV team lost 16-6 against Farmington's JV team.

Record: 0-1
